What is a VPS and how SoftServer works
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is your own isolated slice of a physical server, with dedicated CPU, RAM and storage. Unlike shared hosting, nothing you do is slowed down by other customers, and you have full control over the software you run.
What makes SoftServer different
A plain VPS gives you an empty Ubuntu machine and a root password — everything else is up to you. SoftServer adds a built-in control panel on top, so you manage the server through clicks instead of SSH:
- Install full platforms (WordPress, Laravel, Next.js and more) in one action.
- Add domains, enable free SSL, and manage databases and email.
- Run backups, firewall rules, cron jobs and background workers.
- Watch live CPU and RAM usage, and open a terminal in your browser when you want it.
Who it is for
SoftServer suits developers, agencies and businesses who want the power and isolation of a VPS without spending their time on server administration. SSH access is still there if you need it — the panel does not lock you out of your own machine.
The basics
Every server is a KVM VPS running Ubuntu 22.04, with one IPv4 address and backups included. You pay in EUR from a prepaid wallet, and infrastructure runs in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
