Install Next.js on a VPS

Host a Next.js application on your own VPS with SoftServer. The panel installs Node.js, configures Nginx as a reverse proxy, and keeps your app running with a process manager — all without SSH.

Install steps

  1. Open your server and go to Platform Installation.
  2. Choose Next.js. You can deploy it as a standalone app, or as the frontend of a composable stack with a Laravel, NestJS, Express or Fastify backend.
  3. Confirm the install. Node.js and the reverse proxy are configured automatically and your app is started under a managed process.
  4. Open the domain shown in the panel to see your app live.

After install

  • Add your domain under Domains and enable SSL for HTTPS.
  • Use Git deploy to connect your repository, pull updates and rebuild.
  • Choose or switch the Node.js version from Node.js management.
  • Background processes are supervised, so your app restarts automatically if it crashes or the server reboots.

Standalone or full-stack

Next.js works on its own for static and server-rendered sites, or as the frontend layer over an API backend. If you need both on one server, install a composable stack and SoftServer wires the frontend and backend together for you.
