Install Magento on a VPS
Magento is a demanding platform — SoftServer provisions the stack it needs and installs it from the panel, so you skip the complex manual setup.
Install steps
- Open your server and go to Platform Installation.
- Choose Magento. Use a plan with enough RAM — Magento is resource-hungry, so Powerhouse or Supreme is recommended.
- Confirm the install. Nginx, PHP with the required extensions, MariaDB and Magento are configured for you.
- Open the store URL shown in the panel and finish the Magento setup.
After install
- Point your domain under Domains and enable SSL.
- Manage the database from the Databases section.
- Enable Redis from the panel for Magento cache and sessions to improve performance.
- Turn on automatic backups and add background workers with Supervisor for indexing and cron.
Because Magento needs significant CPU, memory and specific PHP extensions, running it on a dedicated VPS with tuned resources gives far better results than shared hosting.
